Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has technical bids for the Rolling Stock contract package 5RS-DM on 9th February, 2022. This contract was floated for procurement of 318 metro coaches of under-construction 73.92 kilometres Phase 2 Corridors of Bangalore Metro Rail Project.
The scope ofwork includes Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 318 Nos. of Standard Gauge Metro Cars and Training of Personnel upto fifteen (15) years under Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase-2, 2A and 2B (Package 5RS-DM).
As per the information shared by BMRCL, following 4 (four) forms have been submitted their bids to design & supply 318 metro cars to BMRCL for the Bangalore Metro's Phase 2.
Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in September 2022. As per the procurement plan, the coaches will be distributed as under:
This package will be funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In March 2021, Govt. of India and JICA had signed a loan agreement worth Rs 3,717 crore to procure critical systems such as rolling stock, CBTC signaling and platform screen doors.
Now all bids have been sent for technical evaluation. If everything goes normal, BMRCL will open financial bids in the coming weeks.
