Gandhinagar, India (Rail & Metro Today): The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has issued three separate tenders for design consultancy services for the proposed Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase 3, marking another step towards expanding the region’s rapid transit network through Metro cum Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) hybrid corridors.
The proposed Phase 3 network will add approximately 48.38 km across three corridors, covering key residential, commercial and urban growth areas of Ahmedabad and its surrounding region.
GMRC has invited bids for detailed design consultancy for each corridor separately. The last date for submission of bids is September 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
The three proposed corridors under the latest GMRC tenders are:
| Phase | Corridor | Stations | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 3B2 | Vakil Bridge Metro Station–Badrabad Metro Station | 6 | 12.38 km |
| Phase 3C1 | APMC Metro Station–Rakhial Metro Station | 11 | 14.50 km |
| Phase 3C2 | Malek Saban Lake Metro Station–Nehru Nagar Metro Station | 15 | 21.50 km |
| Total | 32 | 48.38 km |
The consultancy packages will cover detailed design-related activities required for the development and construction of the proposed Metro-RRTS hybrid corridors.
The proposed corridors are part of GMRC's broader plans to expand the rapid transit network and provide higher-capacity public transport connections across Ahmedabad.
The 48.38-km Phase 3 network is expected to improve connectivity between major residential, commercial and employment centres while providing better integration with the existing and upcoming Metro network.
The development of Metro-RRTS hybrid infrastructure is also aimed at creating a more integrated regional mobility system, enabling faster movement across Ahmedabad and its surrounding urban areas.
GMRC has issued separate consultancy tenders for Phase 3B2, Phase 3C1 and Phase 3C2. Interested and eligible consultancy firms will be responsible for undertaking the detailed design consultancy associated with the respective corridors.
The bid submission deadline for all three tenders has been fixed for September 25, 2026, at 15:00 hours.
The tender notices are available through GMRC's official website.
The Ahmedabad Metro is being developed as a mass rapid transit system serving Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The first two phases have expanded the operational/developed network to around 68.5 km, while additional corridors under Phase 2A and Phase 2B are progressing.
The proposed Phase 3 corridors are expected to further expand the network and improve connectivity to major urban destinations, including areas around the airport and important residential and commercial centres.
With the latest three tenders, GMRC has initiated the consultancy process for a 48.38-km Metro-RRTS hybrid network, setting the stage for the next phase of Ahmedabad's regional mass-transit expansion.
