Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): The Haryana government has approved the final alignment of a 64-kilometre Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor connecting Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida, marking a major step toward seamless regional mobility across the National Capital Region.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the decision in the state assembly and confirmed the development through his official social media post, stating that the approximately 64-km-long corridor will include a 52-km stretch within Haryana. He noted that the ambitious project will give fresh momentum to regional connectivity while providing passengers with fast, safe and modern transportation facilities.
The proposed high-speed corridor will originate from Iffco Chowk in Gurugram, part of the planned Delhi–Bawal RRTS corridor. From the proposed Iffco Chowk station, the alignment will move southward along the Sector-29 road network and continue along the median of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Marg. Near the junction of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Marg and Rajesh Pilot Marg (Southern Peripheral Road), close to Sector-61 and Golf Course Extension Road, the alignment will turn eastward toward Ghata Chowk. Beyond Ghata Chowk, the corridor will follow the Gurugram–Faridabad Road (MDR-137/Gwal Pahari Road), providing direct connectivity between the two cities.
The corridor is designed for extensive integration with existing and upcoming urban rail systems. It will connect with the Delhi Metro, Rapid Metro Gurugram and the under-development Gurugram Metro expansion. Plans include extending the Gurugram Rapid Metro by approximately one kilometre to link it with the RRTS station at Sector 61. Two integrated RRTS-cum-metro stations and six additional metro-only stations are proposed in Gurugram under a coordinated operational framework. Officials have indicated that the Detailed Project Report is in its final stages and has been directed for expedited completion.
In Faridabad, the alignment will enter near Sainik Colony and Badhkal Enclave, proceeding along Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg and the NIT circular road. The corridor will cross Bata Chowk at NH-44, integrating with the Delhi Metro’s Violet Line at the existing Bata Chowk station. It will then extend eastward along the sector road dividing sectors 12, 13, 14 and 15, cross the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Agra Canal, and continue via Accord Hospital Road and Mata Anandmayee Marg before crossing the Yamuna River toward Noida. The Faridabad section will feature two integrated RRTS-cum-metro stations and eight metro-only stations, with the alignment remaining elevated through the Bata Chowk area to minimise disruption to existing infrastructure.
A key highlight of the corridor is its potential to provide direct connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. Earlier projections suggest that travel time between IGI Airport Terminal 3 and Jewar Airport could be reduced to approximately 60 to 70 minutes once the corridor becomes operational.
On the Uttar Pradesh side, the broader alignment will run from Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport, passing through Char Murti Chowk, Knowledge Park 5, Surajpur, Alpha-1 and Yamuna City sectors. This stretch will integrate with the Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor, the Red Line Metro in Ghaziabad and the Aqua Line in Greater Noida, while also interfacing with the proposed Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida RRTS at Surajpur. Provisions have also been included for future connectivity with a high-speed rail corridor.
The new RRTS link is expected to significantly ease road congestion across the NCR and strengthen economic integration among Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida. By connecting multiple expressways, metro systems and regional rail corridors, the project is poised to transform commuting patterns for thousands of daily travellers across the region.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “The approval of the Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida RRTS corridor reflects a strategic shift toward integrated regional mobility planning in the NCR. By linking key economic hubs and two major international airports, this corridor will not only reduce travel time but also unlock long-term economic and real estate growth across South Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh.”
