Jakson Limited wins ₹299.88 crore E&M Systems Contract for Bhopal Metro Rail Project

Bhopal, India (Rail & Metro Today): Jakson Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems package covering 17 elevated and two underground metro stations in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The company quoted ₹299.88 crore, according to the tender result published on October 28, 2026.

The tender was floated by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) for E&M systems at a total of 19 metro stations. The financial bids indicate that Jakson submitted the lowest quotation among the technically qualified bidders. However, the contract award remains pending final evaluation and approval by the corporation.

Four Companies Participate in Tender

Four companies participated in the bidding process, of which three cleared the technical evaluation. Efkon India Private Limited emerged as the second-lowest bidder, quoting ₹319.83 crore, approximately 6.7% higher than Jakson’s offer.

Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Limited ranked third with a bid of ₹361.91 crore, around 20.7% above the L1 quotation.

  • Jakson Limited: ₹299.88 crore (L1)
  • Efkon India Private Limited: ₹319.83 crore (L2)
  • MEP Projects & Engineering Services Limited: ₹₹361.91 (L3)

However, Kalpataru Projects International Limited did not clear the technical evaluation and was therefore excluded from the financial ranking.

The tender carried an earnest money deposit (EMD) requirement of ₹2.78 crore. With a difference of approximately ₹19.95 crore between the first- and second-ranked bids, the financial evaluation will be an important part of the process leading to the final contract award.

E&M Systems Critical to Metro Operations

Electrical and mechanical systems are essential to the safe and efficient functioning of metro stations. Depending on the contract scope, these systems may include station electrical installations, lighting, ventilation and air-conditioning, fire detection and protection, plumbing, drainage, lifts, escalators and other building services.

Their integration is particularly important across elevated and underground stations, where operating conditions and technical requirements can differ. Effective coordination of these systems with civil works, signalling, telecommunications and other metro infrastructure is necessary before stations can be commissioned for passenger services.

Contract Award Awaited

Jakson’s emergence as L1 marks a significant step in the tender process for the Bhopal Metro project. The final outcome will depend on MPMRCL’s completion of the prescribed evaluation and award formalities.

Once awarded, the package will contribute to the development of station infrastructure required to support metro operations in Bhopal. The appointment of a qualified E&M contractor will be important for coordinating station services and ensuring that the systems are installed, integrated and tested in line with project requirements.
