Johnson Lifts wins ₹129.86 crore AMC Contract for Lifts and Escalators for Chennai Metro Phase 1

Chennai, India (Rail & Metro Today): Johnson Lifts Private Limited has secured a contract worth ₹129.86 crore from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for comprehensive annual maintenance services for lifts and escalators installed at Chennai Metro stations.

The contract covers the comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) of passenger vertical transportation systems across the Chennai Metro network. The maintenance package is aimed at ensuring the reliable availability, safety and operational performance of lifts and escalators used by metro passengers.

Lifts and escalators form an essential part of metro station infrastructure, particularly for elderly passengers, persons with reduced mobility and passengers travelling with luggage. Their continuous availability is therefore important for maintaining smooth passenger movement within stations.

Under the contract, Johnson Lifts will undertake comprehensive maintenance services for the equipment covered by the CMRL tender. Regular preventive maintenance, inspection and servicing of such systems are critical to reducing equipment downtime and ensuring safe passenger operations.

The award strengthens Johnson Lifts’ presence in India's growing urban rail infrastructure sector, where metro networks increasingly require specialised maintenance services alongside the expansion of station infrastructure.
