Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), along with NCC Ltd, marked the formal commencement of work on Mumbai Metro Line-6 / Package-1 with a kick-off meeting held in Mumbai. The contract, awarded via Letter of Acceptance (LOA) dated 11 July 2025, brings together leading industry players to deliver one of the city’s most advanced metro systems.
The session was inaugurated by Mr. Sushil Chandra, Director (Systems), MMRDA, who urged all stakeholders to focus on timely execution, seamless coordination, and adherence to the highest quality standards. The meeting was attended by senior representatives from MMRDA, NCC Ltd, Titagarh, Siemens, and other partner organizations.

Scope of Work – Package-1 (CA-232 / Line-6): Design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of rolling stock, CBTC-based signalling & train control, telecommunications, platform screen doors, depot machinery & plant, followed by five years of comprehensive maintenance after a two-year defect liability period.
Titagarh Rail Systems: First-time delivery of UTO trains with 3200 mm coach width for Mumbai Metro.
Siemens: First-time supply in India of CBTC signalling and train control systems for UTO (GoA4) operations.
NCC Ltd: Marks entry into the systems integration domain with this high-profile turnkey contract.

Mumbai Metro Line-6 will run from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (EEH), enhancing east–west connectivity and easing congestion on key arterial roads. Once operational, it will integrate seamlessly with other metro lines and suburban rail corridors, improving travel times and commuter convenience.
