Larsen & Toubro awarded ₹1,737cr civil contract for Delhi Metro Phase 4

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has issued a major civil contract order worth Rs 1,737 crores to Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) for the construction of 6.51 km underground section of the 23.622 km long Silver Line (Aerocity - Tughalakabad) including of 4 metro stations on March 8, 2022.

The scope of work includes Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down Line) by Shield TBM, Cut and Cover Tunnel box, Underground Ramp and four Underground stations namely Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai with Entry/Exits & Connecting subways from chainage 5356.285 mtr. to 11867.000 mtr. of Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor of Phase-IV of Delhi Metro Rail Project.

Tender notice for the contract package DC-09 of Delhi Metro's Phase 4 was issued in May 2021 with a 42 month deadline and estimated value of work of Rs 1,428 crore. A total of four bids were received by the DMRC and financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd: Rs 1,737.22 crores (L1)
  • Afcons Infrastructure Ltd: Rs 1,739.64 crores (L2)
  • Gülermak Ağır Sanayi İnşaat ve Taahhüt A Ş: Rs 1,940.90 crores (L3)
  • ITD Cementation India Ltd: Rs 2,028.40 crores (L4)

The final contract value is Rs 1,737 crore (INR 1533,50,10,000 + USD 2,70,00,000). This contract will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through a Rs 8,390 crore ODA loan signed with DMRC.

The 23.622 km long Silver Line will conenct Delhi Aerocity to Tughalakabad (Indian Railways Station) with 15 stations. This line is part of 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 network and is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
