Kolkata, India (Metro Rail Today): The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has opened the financial bids for underground civil contract package (UG-1) of Kolkata Metro Line 3 (Joka to Esplanade / BBD Bagh) on 23rd June 2023 in Kolkata.
As per the financial bids results, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of 5.05 km underground stretch between Mominpur – Esplanade of Kolkata Metro Line 3.
The financial position of each bidder is as under:-
Tender notice for contract package UG1 (RVNL_Kol2_MTC_JOKA_UG1) was issued in July 2022 with an estimated cost of work of Rs 2,571.28 crore. Technical bids were opened in February 2023.
The scope of work involves design and construction of the ramp and underground metro railway works from mominpur (excl.) to esplanade, 5.05 km (from chainage 9063.00m to 14113.00m) including four underground stations (viz. Khidderpore, Victoria, Park Street and Esplanade), tunnels by tunnel boring machine and cut & cover method, architectural finishing works, track works, etc. in connection with Joka-Esplanade Metro corridor of Kolkata Metro Rail Project.
The 15.08 kilometres Purple Line spans from Joka in the south, to Esplanade in the north with an extension of 3.39 kilometres to Diamond Park from Joka. Out of, 6.5 kilometers section from Joka to Taratala is presently operational since 30th December 2022.
