Lisha Engineers bags ₹138.70 crore Sanoth Depot Contract for Delhi Metro's Rithala-Kundli Corridor

New Delhi, India (Rail & Metro Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has awarded a major ₹138.70 crore contract to Lisha Engineers Private Limited for the development of infrastructure at Sanoth Depot on the Rithala-Kundli Corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV.

The contract, identified as D2C-08, has been awarded for a total value of ₹138,69,67,743.42, with the selected contractor required to complete the works within 30 months from the Commencement Date.

The package covers a wide range of civil, construction and associated works required to develop the Sanoth Depot, which will serve as an important supporting facility for the Rithala-Kundli Metro corridor.

Comprehensive Depot Infrastructure

Under Contract D2C-08, Lisha Engineers will undertake the construction and development of several critical facilities at the depot. The scope includes earth filling, depot buildings, workshop facilities, inspection shed, plumbing and drainage systems, external development, architectural finishing and internal roads.

The package also includes the design and construction of Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEBs), adding specialised structural facilities to the depot complex.

The combination of civil works, operational buildings, workshop infrastructure, drainage, roads and architectural works is intended to create an integrated depot facility capable of supporting the operational requirements of the metro corridor.

30-Month Construction Schedule

The contract provides an execution period of 30 months from the Commencement Date. During this period, the contractor will be responsible for delivering the various civil and associated components covered under the package.

The Sanoth Depot will form part of the supporting infrastructure required for the Rithala-Kundli Corridor, providing facilities essential to the operation, inspection and maintenance of metro services once the corridor becomes operational.

Rithala-Kundli Corridor Under Phase-IV

The Rithala-Kundli Corridor is part of Delhi Metro's Phase-IV expansion programme and is intended to strengthen connectivity between north-west Delhi and the adjoining areas of the National Capital Region.

The corridor will extend the reach of the Delhi Metro network towards Kundli in Haryana, improving public transport connectivity across a rapidly developing section of the NCR. Its development is expected to provide commuters with an additional high-capacity public transport option and reduce dependence on road-based travel.

The corridor is also strategically important because it will strengthen connectivity between Delhi and neighbouring urban and industrial areas in Haryana. Improved metro accessibility can support residential growth, employment centres and commercial activity along the corridor while providing a more sustainable alternative to private vehicles.

Supporting Delhi Metro's Next Phase of Expansion

The Sanoth Depot package is one of the construction contracts required to establish the supporting infrastructure for Delhi Metro Phase-IV. While stations and viaducts form the visible elements of a metro system, depots provide the operational backbone required for train stabling, inspection, maintenance and associated activities.

The inclusion of workshops, inspection facilities, PEB structures, internal roads, drainage and other supporting infrastructure within the D2C-08 package reflects the scale of facilities required to support a modern metro corridor.

The ₹138.70 crore contract awarded to Lisha Engineers Private Limited therefore represents another significant procurement milestone for Delhi Metro Phase-IV. With a 30-month construction period, the development of Sanoth Depot will contribute to the creation of the operational infrastructure needed for the Rithala-Kundli Corridor and the continued expansion of sustainable mass transit connectivity across the Delhi-NCR region.
