India launches first High Speed Bullet Train Manufacturing Complex in Bengaluru
New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has awarded a major civil contract worth Rs 15,697 crore to Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) for the construction of 135 kilometres stretch including three Bullet Train Stations (Thane, Virar & Boisar) for the 508.17 km Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Bullet Train Corridor in Maharashtra.
The scope of work of contract package (MAHSR C-3) includes Design and Construction of Civil and Building Works including Testing and Commissioning on Design Build Lump Sum Price Basis for Double Line High Speed Railway involving Viaducts & Bridges (excluding fabrication and transportation of steel truss girder components), Maintenance Depot, Tunnels, Earth Structures and Stations (Thane, Virar and Boisar), between Shilphata in the State of Maharashtra and Zaroli at Maharashtra-Gujarat border from MAHSR Km 21.150 to MAHSR Km 156.600 [excluding Thane Depot] for the Project for Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.
The contract agreement for this civil contract package MAHSR C-3 has been signed between the officials of NHSRCL and L&T today in New Delhi.
In June 2023, L&T emerged as the lowest bidder to construct 135.45 km section of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project between Shilphata and Zaroli in Maharashtra with 3 elevated bullet train stations at Thane, Virar and Boisar. A total of four bidders were in race of winning this contract package.
Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in November 2022 with a 1704 day work completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in April 2023.
The 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor will conenct Mumbai (in Maharashtra) to Ahmedabad (in Gujarat) with 12 stations.
