Manish Singh takes charge of new Managing Director of MP Metro Rail Corporation

Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): An officer of 2009-batch IAS (Indian Administrative Services), Manish Singh took charge of the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MP Metro) last week on 8th November 2022. He also takes additional charge of Deputy Secretary, Overseas Indians Department in the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Mr. Singh is known as a brave and confident bureaucrat. Before this, he was working as a Collector and District Magistrate of Indore. He has also been the Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation earlier and during his tenure, Indore was the first to become number one in cleanliness.

He has taken charge from Nikunj Srivastava, who was leading the Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects after taking charge from Smt. Chhavi Bhardwaj as Managing Director.

Mr. Singh will now lead the under-construction activities of metro rail projects in Bhopal and Indore. The Govt. of Madhya Pradesh has given a target to open small sections of the Bhopal & Indore Metro before assembly elections which are due next year.

The government of Madhya Pradesh is implementing Metro Rail Projects in the cities of Bhopal and Indore. Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL) has been constituted as a special purpose vehicle to implement the metro rail projects in the state. 

The goal of the projects is to offer a rail-based Sustainable Urban Transport System, a Smart and Healthy City to increase the quality of life and better access to goods, and services, creating employment opportunities and sustainable development, climate change mitigation resulting in a livable city environment i.e. health-supportive environment with more allocation of road space to people rather than vehicles to make people include walk and cycle in their daily routines during course of transit for their healthy life.
