Moscow Metro introduces Cutting-Edge Moskva-2024 Train Series

Moscow, Russia (Metro Rail Today): On March 11, the Moscow Metro unveiled its latest innovation, the Moskva-2024 train series, on Line 2, showcasing the city's commitment to modernizing passenger transport rolling stock. Moscow has been a leader in this domain, with a focused effort to reduce the average age of metro trains by half since 2010, from 24 to 12 years, prioritizing commuter satisfaction and comfort.

The Moskva-2024 train series made its debut on Line 2, one of the metro's busiest and most extensive lines. Over the next three years, Line 2 is set to undergo a complete fleet renovation.

Key Features of the Moskva-2024 Series:

• Increased Capacity:  The Moskva-2024 series boasts expanded aisle space, accommodating 17 more passengers per carriage, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient journey for commuters.

• Enhanced Comfort:  Passengers will enjoy wider seats with upgraded upholstery materials, enhancing their overall travel experience.

• Enhanced Connectivity:  USB chargers have been strategically relocated from seats to handrails, with plans to introduce new Type-C ports and additional connectors, catering to the evolving needs of passengers.

• Accessibility:  Head cars are now equipped to accommodate passengers with reduced mobility, promoting inclusivity and convenience for all riders.

Compared to its predecessors like the "Number" cars (81-717/81-714), the Moskva-2024 series offers a 10% increase in maximum capacity. Notable improvements, such as 32% wider doors, facilitate quicker boarding and disembarkation processes. Additionally, the train features 176 information displays, a seamless passage from the first to the last carriage, and enhanced noise insulation, further enhancing the overall commuting experience.

With modern cars constituting 74% of the Moscow Metro's rolling stock, the introduction of the Moskva-2024 series marks a significant step towards fulfilling the city's commitment to innovation and efficiency. The unveiling of this series signals ongoing efforts in the renovation of rolling stock, with plans already underway for the development of an even more modern Moskva-2026 series.
