NCC bags ₹580.74 Cr Civil Contract for Nine Stations on Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project

Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): Infrastructure major NCC Ltd has been awarded a ₹580.74 crore civil contract by the Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) for the construction of nine stations under Package C4B of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP).

This strategic contract covers part of Corridor 4—also known as the Kanaka Line—spanning 46.88 km from Heelalige to Rajanukunte in the city’s northeast. The scope includes one elevated station and eight at-grade stations at key locations: Channasandra, Horamavu, Hennur, Thanisandra, R.K. Hegdenagar, Jakkur, Yelahanka, Muddanahalli, and Rajanukunte.

Comprehensive Scope of Civil and Structural Work

Under this contract, NCC will execute:

  • Construction of station buildings

  • Entry and exit structures

  • Steel foot overbridges (FOBs)

  • Pre-engineered building (PEB) roofs

  • Architectural finishes

  • Installation of electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems

Competitive Bidding and Contract Finalization

K-RIDE, a joint venture of the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways, floated the tender in July 2024 with a base estimate of ₹528.05 crore. After the technical bid round in September 2024, only two bidders emerged: NCC Ltd and a joint venture of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Rithwik Projects Pvt. Ltd.

However, the RVNL–Rithwik JV was disqualified due to their existing award for Package C4A, which includes stations from Heelalige to Kaggadasapura. NCC became the sole eligible bidder.

Although NCC’s initial bid was ₹649.15 crore, approximately 22.93% above the estimated cost, negotiations led to a final contract value of ₹580.74 crore. The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was issued to NCC on April 22, 2025.

Progress on Corridor 4 and Integration with Metro

Corridor 4 of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) is part of a broader 149.35 km network designed to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in India’s tech capital. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is currently constructing viaducts and embankments for 18 stations under a separate ₹1,040.51 crore contract awarded in December 2023.

Corridor 4 will also share a 500-meter alignment with Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Blue Line (Phase 2B) between Benniganahalli and Channasandra, enhancing intermodal connectivity for millions of commuters.

With this latest development, NCC Ltd. is set to play a pivotal role in realizing Bengaluru’s long-awaited suburban rail network, a project seen as crucial for easing the city’s transportation challenges. As construction begins, the integration of rail and metro infrastructure promises to deliver faster, more reliable transit options for one of India’s fastest-growing urban centers.
