New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a recent development, Patil Rail Infrastructure (PRIPL) has been awarded a significant contract worth Rs. 52.16 crore for supplying the ballastless track fastening system for Delhi Metro's upcoming Silver Line, designated as Line-10. This marks a crucial step forward in the implementation of the 23.6 km long Silver Line, connecting Aerocity to Tughlakabad via 16 stations.
The Silver Line is an integral part of the extensive 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project, currently undergoing civil construction through multiple underground and elevated packages. Notable packages include DC-07 by Afcons, DC-08 by J Kumar, DC-09 by L&T (which includes PRIPL's fastening system contract), and DC-04 by YFC Projects.
The Silver Line will feature ballastless standard gauge tracks, ensuring enhanced durability and operational efficiency. The installation of these tracks will be carried out by a different contractor through Package DT-10. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) initiated the procurement process for the fastening system (DT-09) in July 2023, setting a 2-year deadline for completion.
The bidding process saw competition from Pandrol Rahee Technologies, the only other contender for this contract. Ultimately, PRIPL secured the contract with a winning bid of Rs. 52.16 crore, while Pandrol Rahee Technologies placed a bid of Rs. 56.19 crore. The awarded contract encompasses the supply of the fastening system, consisting of 60,000 sets of the 04 Anchor System and 92,500 sets of the 02 Anchor System for the ballastless track on Line 10.
DMRC has been systematically progressing with the system contracts for the Silver Line. In August 2022, the UIC-60 turnouts and scissor crossover contract (Package DT-07) were awarded to Voestalpine VAE VKN India. However, a retender notice is still pending for the track installation work (Package DT-10), following the abrupt cancellation of bids in August 2023 without providing a specific reason.
In a related development, Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (KPIL) emerged as the lowest bidder for the line's 25 kV AC OHE traction contract (Package DE-08) late last month. These sequential awards indicate the systematic progression of the Silver Line project.
The successful procurement of the track fastening system signifies a crucial step in the Silver Line's journey toward completion. As PRIPL undertakes this pivotal role, the entire Phase 4 project inches closer to its final form. With ongoing contracts and pending tenders, DMRC remains committed to delivering a robust and efficient metro network for the residents of Delhi.
Patil Rail Infrastructure's win in securing the DT-09 contract reinforces its position as a key player in India's metro infrastructure landscape. The Silver Line, once operational, is poised to significantly enhance connectivity and transportation efficiency in the bustling city of Delhi.
