Lucknow, India (Metro Rail Today): German railway infrastructure company RailOne GmbH has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government to invest ₹200 crore in modern railway infrastructure development in the state.
The agreement was signed on 27 February 2026 in Germany by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, marking a significant step toward strengthening international cooperation in railway technology and infrastructure development.
Under the proposed investment plan, RailOne GmbH will focus on advanced concrete sleeper manufacturing, modern track components, and related railway infrastructure technologies.
The initiative aims to support the modernisation of railway infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh by introducing German engineering expertise and global quality standards in track systems and construction materials.
Officials said the project will help enhance railway safety, operational reliability, and long-term durability of track infrastructure, which are critical for handling increasing passenger and freight traffic.
The investment is also expected to contribute to industrial growth and improved connectivity across Uttar Pradesh, supporting the state’s broader infrastructure development goals.
By strengthening the railway supply chain and introducing advanced manufacturing capabilities, the collaboration could play a role in enhancing regional logistics efficiency and economic development.
The agreement follows a visit by a high-level Uttar Pradesh delegation to RailOne’s manufacturing facility in Germany on 25 February 2026.
The delegation, led by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, toured the production plant and reviewed the company’s advanced railway track systems and concrete sleeper manufacturing processes.
During the visit, officials also interacted with RailOne representatives to understand global best practices in railway infrastructure technology, manufacturing quality standards, and track system innovations.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said collaborations with global technology providers can significantly strengthen India’s railway infrastructure ecosystem.
“Partnerships with international railway technology leaders such as RailOne can play an important role in enhancing the quality and durability of track infrastructure in India. Adopting advanced manufacturing processes and global standards will contribute to safer and more efficient railway networks while supporting the country’s long-term infrastructure modernization goals,” she said.
She added that such collaborations also support the Make in India initiative by encouraging technology transfer, skill development, and local manufacturing capabilities in the rail sector.
The engagement reflects Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to explore modern infrastructure solutions and strengthen international partnerships in the rail sector.
