RailTel bags two orders from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation for Phase 2

Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): RailTel Corporation of India (RailTel), A Miniratna PSU of Govt. of India under Ministry of Railways, has announced that the company has secured two orders from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) for developing IT network infrastructure for Bangalore Metro's Phase 2 Corridors.

"Pursuant to Regulation 30 read with Part A (B) of Schedule III of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, this is to inform that RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. (“the Company”) has received the work order from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd for Supply, Installation Testing and Commissioning of the IT network infrastructure amounting to Rs 27.07 Crores (excluding taxes) and Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract amounting to Rs 6.22 Crore (excluding taxes) per year for 5 years extendable to 10 years," the company said in a regulatory filing.

“The period of completion for the work is three months, and the payment will be made in three installments. Payment of 10 percent after submission of final design document and as built drawing, 70 percent on delivery of goods and 20 percent after issuance of work completion certificate,” the company added.

RailTel was incorporated with the aim of modernizing the existing telecom system for train control, operation, and safety and to generate additional revenues by creating nationwide broadband and multimedia network, laying optical fiber cable using the right of way along railway tracks. Presently, the optic fiber network of RailTel covers over 61,000+ route kilometers and covers 6,108+ railway stations across India.

RailTel has a strategic relationship with the Indian Railways and it undertakes a wide variety of projects including provision of mission critical connectivity services like IP based video surveillance system at stations, ‘e-Office’ services and implementing short haul connectivity between stations and long haul connectivity to support various organizations within the Indian Railways. RailTel also provide various passenger services including content on demand services and Wi-Fi across major railway stations in India.

For delivering outstanding services to Rail & Metro sectors, RailTel had bagged 'Excellence in Railway Signalling Solutions' Award at the 2nd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards 2022 held in New Delhi, India on 7th November 2022.
