Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a key development for Mumbai Metro Line-2B (Yellow Line), Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd., Apurvakriti Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and Rahee Infratech Ltd. have submitted bids for the second major ballastless track-work contract spanning 23.6 km. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) opened technical bids this week for Package CA-273, which includes the installation of standard gauge ballastless tracks between Andheri West and ITO Station in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
This 8.2 km segment is part of the final phase of the line’s development—from Saraswat Nagar to Diamond Nagar in Chembur—and marks the last stretch required to complete the corridor from Andheri West to Mandale. MMRDA had invited tenders in March 2025 with an estimated contract value of ₹121.83 crore. The project’s completion deadline remains unspecified.
As per MMRDA’s tender, the contract includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the ballastless track on the main line from Andheri West (excluding the station area at Ch: 34+035.873) to ITO Station (including station area at Ch: 44+857.698).
The bids are now under technical evaluation—a process that could take several months. Once this phase is complete, financial bids of qualified contractors will be opened to identify the lowest bidder and likely contractor for the work.
Meanwhile, MMRDA has initiated trial runs on the Mandale to Diamond Nagar stretch, set to be the first operational section of Line-2B. The remaining phases include Phase 2 (Andheri West to Saraswat Nagar) and Phase 3 (Saraswat Nagar to Diamond Nagar via BKC), with the latter being the longest and most complex.
