Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In the latest development for Mumbai Metro Line-4, three firms have submitted bids for the architectural finishing and pre-engineered building (PEB) roof contract CA-222. This contract covers seven stations located at the southern end of the Green Line, including Garodia Nagar, Pant Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Shreyas Cinema, Godrej Company, Vikhroli Metro and Surya Nagar.
The civil construction for these seven stations falls under the CA-09 package, which was awarded to Tata Projects – CHEC JV in March 2018 with a 30-month deadline. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) invited bids for the architectural finishing contract in October 2023, estimating the cost at Rs. 200.83 crores with a 20-month deadline.
The bidders for this contract include Eagle Infra India Ltd., Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., and Landmark Corporation Pvt. Ltd. The scope of work includes architectural finishing and plumbing works, interior fitouts, façade, as well as the design, fabrication, supply, and erection of pre-engineered structures, including entry-exit structures.
The bids are currently undergoing technical evaluation, a process expected to take a couple of months. Once completed, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened, revealing the lowest bidder and, in all likelihood, the contractor for the project.
This marks the second architectural finishing contract for Line-4. In December 2023, MMRDA received five bids for Package CA-194, which covers seven stations between Mulund Fire Station and Majiwada. GPM Architects & Planners were appointed to design 12 stations for Line-4 by MMRDA and Systra MVA Consulting.
Despite progress in various aspects of the project, Line-4, like other metro lines in Mumbai, faces challenges. The opening of the line is not anticipated before 2026. A re-tender notice for the line's 234-coach rolling stock contract is pending, following its termination by Alstom Transport in early 2022.
