New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for India’s railway and mobility ecosystem, a delegation from the Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber), led by its Director General Dr. Vinod Shah, met Shri Tokhan Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, and formally invited him to attend the official launch of India’s first dedicated railway industry chamber and inaugurate the 6th RailTrans Expo 2026 as the Guest of Honor.

The landmark event is scheduled to be held on 3 July 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, while the two-day RailTrans Expo 2026 will take place on 3–4 July 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from the railway, metro rail, urban transportation, infrastructure, EPC, mobility, and technology sectors.

During the meeting, Dr. Vinod Shah presented the vision and objectives of the Rail Chamber, describing it as India’s first unified, non-governmental apex industry body exclusively dedicated to the railway manufacturing, services, transportation, and mobility ecosystem. The Chamber aims to serve as a collaborative platform for industry stakeholders, policymakers, technology providers, and investors to support the growth and modernization of India’s rail and transit sectors.

Shri Tokhan Sahu appreciated the initiative and conveyed his in-principle consent to participate in the inaugural session. He lauded the Rail Chamber’s efforts in creating an integrated platform that brings together multiple strategic sectors under one umbrella to foster collaboration and innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tokhan Sahu said:

“India is rapidly transforming its transportation and infrastructure ecosystem, and such integrated industry platforms are the need of the hour. Bringing together railways, transportation, EPC, infrastructure, and semiconductor industries on a single platform will encourage greater collaboration, innovation, and productivity. Event organizers across sectors should also adopt this approach to create more meaningful and result-oriented engagements.”

The Minister further emphasized the importance of industry-led platforms in supporting the Government’s vision for modern infrastructure, sustainable urban mobility, and accelerated industrial growth.

Expressing gratitude for the Minister’s encouragement and support, Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General of the Rail Chamber, stated:

“We are deeply honoured by the encouragement and in-principle acceptance extended by Hon’ble Minister Shri Tokhan Sahu Ji. The Rail Chamber has been envisioned as a national platform to unite industry stakeholders and support India’s rapidly evolving railway and mobility ecosystem. His guidance and support will greatly inspire the industry and strengthen our collective efforts towards innovation-led growth and nation-building.”

The Rail Chamber is being launched with a mission to strengthen industry-government collaboration, promote innovation and indigenization, facilitate policy advocacy, and contribute to India’s long-term infrastructure and mobility objectives in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The inaugural edition of the Chamber is expected to play a pivotal role in bringing together railway manufacturers, technology providers, metro rail operators, infrastructure developers, rolling stock companies, consultants, and mobility innovators to address emerging opportunities and challenges in the sector.

RailTrans Expo 2026, now in its sixth edition, is expected to attract participation from senior government officials, Railway Board members, metro rail corporations, public sector undertakings, production units, EPC contractors, global technology firms, startups, and industry leaders from India and overseas. The event will serve as a platform for showcasing innovations, fostering business partnerships, and discussing the future of transportation and mobility infrastructure.

Commenting on the significance of the initiative, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said:

“The launch of the Chamber of Railway Industries marks a historic milestone for India’s railway and mobility sector. A dedicated industry body will create stronger collaboration between government and industry, encourage innovation, support indigenous manufacturing, and help accelerate the development of world-class transportation infrastructure. Combined with RailTrans Expo 2026, this initiative will provide a powerful platform to drive growth, investment, and technology adoption across the sector.”

The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) is India’s first apex industry body dedicated exclusively to the railway and mobility sector. The Chamber aims to create a unified platform for industry collaboration, policy engagement, innovation, skill development, and global competitiveness while supporting the growth of India’s railway, metro rail, and transportation ecosystem.
