New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): YFC Projects Private Limited has made a significant stride in the Delhi Metro Golden Line (Line-10) development with the launch of their first U-girder for Package DC-04. This milestone marks a key advancement in the 23.62-kilometer Golden Line project, designed to connect Aerocity to Tughlakabad via 15 stations.
In August 2024, YFC Projects successfully launched the inaugural 28-meter U-girder for the 4.28-kilometer elevated section of Package DC-04, which spans from Saket G Block to Sangam Vihar. The launch took place at the ramp area within Saket’s City Forest. This ramp will eventually connect to the 6.51-kilometer underground segment of Package DC-09, currently under construction by Larsen & Toubro.
YFC had previously introduced their first pier cap in this same ramp area in December 2023. The casting of U-girders began in August 2020 at YFC’s Pushp Vihar yard. The company plans to cast and deploy a total of 240 U-girders for the DC-04 viaduct.
Package DC-04 is the sole elevated segment of the Golden Line, with the remaining three packages (DC-07, DC-08, and DC-09) being underground. This package features a notable 2.4-kilometer double-decker section on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, designed to accommodate both vehicular traffic (on the first level) and metro operations (on the second level).
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) awarded the ₹726.08 crore contract for DC-04 to YFC Projects in December 2019, with an original construction deadline of 36 months.
YFC’s responsibilities under Package DC-04 also include:
So far, YFC has launched four U-girders. The first U-girder was installed 56 months after the contract award, indicating potential delays. Although the project is running behind schedule, it is anticipated that key dates and timelines have been adjusted in consultation with DMRC due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in awarding contracts during the 2019-2021 period.
The commencement of commercial operations for Package DC-04 is contingent upon the completion of tunneling works by Afcons Infrastructure on Package DC-07, which will connect up to the Sarita Vihar Depot.
This development underscores YFC Projects’ ongoing efforts to advance the Delhi Metro Golden Line, despite the challenges faced along the way.
