Bengaluru, India (Rail & Metro Today): Cemindia Projects Limited has secured the civil construction contract for Package 1 of the Mallige Line (Corridor-2) under the Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project (BSTP). The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was issued on October 29, 2026, for a contract value of ₹665.61 crore, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The project involves the construction of 7.795 kilometres of elevated viaduct, including ramps, a double-decker rail-cum-road flyover and a station at Mathikere. The stipulated completion period is 24 months, with physical construction work expected to commence shortly.
The scope of Package 1 covers a range of civil infrastructure works along the Mallige Line between Benniganahalli and Shettyhalli. Besides the elevated viaduct, the package includes road flyover ramps, a Y-loop ramp, foot overbridges (FOBs), multimodal integration facilities and other associated infrastructure.
A key component is the proposed double-decker rail-cum-road flyover, which will accommodate suburban rail and road traffic within an integrated infrastructure structure. The station at Mathikere will form part of the corridor's passenger infrastructure.
Additional specified works will also be undertaken at Hebbal, Shettyhalli and Yeshwanthpur. These facilities are expected to support connectivity with existing transport networks and improve access for commuters.
The Mallige Line, also known as Corridor-2, is an important component of Bengaluru's suburban rail development programme. The project aims to provide additional rail-based commuting options for the city's growing population while improving connectivity between residential areas, employment centres and major transport hubs.
The integration of suburban rail infrastructure with road flyovers, pedestrian facilities and multimodal transport connections is expected to improve passenger accessibility and support more efficient urban mobility.
The development of suburban rail services is particularly significant for Bengaluru, where increasing traffic congestion and longer commuting distances have created a growing need for high-capacity public transport alternatives.
With the LoA issued to Cemindia Projects Limited, Package 1 has moved into the implementation stage. The 24-month execution timeline will require coordinated delivery of elevated structures, flyovers, station infrastructure and associated facilities.
The award of this ₹665.61-crore contract represents a significant step towards advancing the Mallige Line and strengthening Bengaluru's suburban rail infrastructure. Timely completion of the civil works will be essential for progressing towards the subsequent stages of railway systems installation, testing and commissioning.
