Bengaluru, India (Rail & Metro Today): A joint venture between RNS Infrastructure Limited and Gayatri Projects Limited has secured a ₹342-crore contract for civil construction works under Corridor 4 of the Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project (BSTP). The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was issued on October 29, 2026, with a stipulated completion period of 24 months.
The contract, awarded for Package 1, covers railway formation, bridges, elevated viaducts and other associated infrastructure between Benniganahalli and Jakkur. The contract value of ₹342 crore is exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The scope includes the construction of 6.259 kilometres of at-grade railway section and 3.681 kilometres of elevated viaduct, along with the associated infrastructure required for the corridor.
Major works include railway formation in embankments and cuttings, blanketing, minor and major bridges, road underbridges (RUBs), earth-retaining structures and retaining walls, drains, boundary walls and fencing.
The package also includes validation of designs and stability checks, wherever applicable, for certain works executed by the previous contractor. These activities cover the section between chainage 22.386 km and 33.742 km of Corridor 4, excluding five stations and the Channasandra RCC box.
The design validation and stability assessment component is particularly important for ensuring the structural integrity and safe integration of previously completed works with the remaining construction.
The Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project is aimed at developing a dedicated suburban rail network to improve connectivity between the city's residential areas, employment centres and major transport hubs. Corridor 4 is one of the key components of this wider rail infrastructure programme.
The development of at-grade and elevated sections, together with bridges and road crossings, is expected to support the movement of suburban trains while addressing the engineering challenges posed by Bengaluru's existing urban infrastructure.
The project is also intended to provide commuters with an additional mass transit option, potentially reducing dependence on road-based transportation and helping address the city's growing traffic congestion.
With the LoA issued to the RNS Infrastructure–Gayatri Projects joint venture, Package 1 has moved towards the implementation stage. Physical construction work is expected to commence shortly, and the contractor will have 24 months to complete the assigned works.
The award represents another step in advancing Bengaluru's suburban rail network. Timely execution of the civil infrastructure, along with proper coordination of previously completed sections, will be essential to maintaining progress on Corridor 4 and achieving the broader objectives of the Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project.
