New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd. (NCRTC) has selected Mumbai-based Architect Hafeez Sorab Contractor as a consultant for providing Integrated Consultancy Services for 82.15 km Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor.

NCRTC has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 10.60 crores to the contractor for providing Integrated Consultancy Services including preparation of proposal for Design and Build basis of Multi-storied Office Towers, Stabling Yard, Warehouse and a RRTS station at Jangpura Stabling Yard, Delhi. The contractor has to complete the work in 1277 days (42 months).

Tender notice (DM/GC/COR-OF/141) for the above work was invited in August 2021. Technical bids were opened on October 12, 2021.

NCRTC has planned to develop the Jangpura Station on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor as a major transit hub with space for residential, commercial and office complexes, and other facilities.

“We have invited bids to appoint a consultant to prepare an Influence zone plan so that Jangpura is developed as a transit-oriented development (TOD) node. It will basically be about ensuring seamless connectivity with other modes of transportation, including last-mile connectivity, pedestrian-friendly area, provision for parking, urban furniture, street vending zones and others. The proposed station and stabling yard will be integrated,”  said NCRTC spokesperson.

“The consultant will also map all the existing facilities and accordingly plan for the area’s development and also take necessary approvals from all the agencies,” he added.

Apart from the stabling yard, Jungpura station will also have an operation control centre to monitor and control the time-bound operation of trains on all three corridors namely Delhi-Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB and Delhi-Panipat RRTS Smart Lines.

Hafeez Sorab Contractor is an Indian architect. He has designed many skyscrapers in India, primarily in the city of Mumbai.

The 82.15 km Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor will connect Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
