Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a strategic move towards enhancing growth and development, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) have inked a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC). The signing ceremony took place at Metros, Nandanam, Chennai, with T. Archunan, Director (Projects), CMRL, and P. R. Swarup, Director General of CIDC, formalizing the collaboration.
CIDC, established by the Government of India in collaboration with industry stakeholders, stands as the apex representative organization actively engaging various constituents of the Indian Construction Industry. On the other hand, CMRL, the State agency responsible for implementing metro projects in Tamil Nadu, plays a pivotal role in shaping urban transportation infrastructure.
The Memorandum of Cooperation underscores a commitment to collaboration, cooperation, and complementation between CMRL and CIDC. The primary focus is on streamlining business processes, propagating best practices, and enhancing safety, quality, and productivity in the construction and metro rail sectors.
The collaborative efforts outlined in the Memorandum prioritize customer interests through efficiency enhancement, quality assurance systems, environmental protection, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Moreover, the agreement highlights key areas such as institutional and capacity building activities, holistic human resource development, research and development, task forces, and the operationalization of resources and infrastructure support.
