Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Bhopal Metro Project, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for 8 new metro stations under the second phase of the project. The inauguration ceremony took place at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, where Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with other leaders including Vishwas Sarang and Pratima Bagri, marked the occasion. The event also witnessed the distribution of appointment letters, fund transfers for development works, and the release of the "Rapid Transport" brochure related to the Bhopal Metro.
During his address, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted the historic significance of the program, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in life. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the Bhopal and Indore metro projects, and funds have been sanctioned for metro development in Uttar Pradesh as well. The Chief Minister announced plans to introduce metro facilities in Jabalpur and Gwalior in the future.
The second phase of the Bhopal Metro Rail Project includes laying an 8.77 km line from Subhash Nagar to Karond, forming the Orange Line extension. The total expenditure for this phase is estimated at Rs 1,540 crore. The project involves the construction of 8 metro stations, with a 3.39 km underground route that incorporates an additional 2 metro stations at Nadra Bus Stand and Bhopal Railway Station.
As Bhopal progresses with its metro expansion, the Bhoomi Pujan marks a significant step towards enhancing public transportation infrastructure and connectivity in the city.
