Efkon India wins ₹103 crore Telecom Contract for Mumbai Metro Line 7A and 9

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has declared Efkon India Private Limited as the lowest bidder (L1) for the telecommunication systems contract of Mumbai Metro Line 9 and Line 7A, marking a key milestone in the expansion of Mumbai’s metro network.

DMRC had invited bids for the contract with an execution period of 900 days. Technical bids were opened on 18 December 2025, with three firms participating. Following the technical evaluation on 19 January 2026, one bidder was disqualified. Financial bids were opened the same day, after which Efkon India emerged as the L1 bidder.

Scope of Work

The contract involves the Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of the Telecommunication System (excluding TETRA) for:

  • Mumbai Metro Line 9 (Dahanukarwadi/Dahisar East to RAI/Mira Bhayandar section)

  • Mumbai Metro Line 7A (Andheri East to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport)

The scope also includes telecom systems for the Dongri Depot, ensuring seamless communication across operations, control, passenger information, and safety-critical interfaces.

Both Line 9 and Line 7A are extensions of Mumbai Metro Line 7 (Red Line), aimed at improving east–west and airport connectivity:

Line 7A:

  • Length: 3.17 km
  • Stations: 2
  • Connects Andheri East to CSIA, providing direct metro access to the airport.

Line 9:

  • Length: 11.38 km

  • Stations: 7

  • Extends metro connectivity from Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar, benefiting Mumbai’s northern suburbs.

The telecom systems contract is a critical step toward operational readiness of Lines 9 and 7A. Advanced telecom infrastructure will enable real-time train control support, passenger information systems, operational communications, and enhanced safety, supporting Mumbai Metro’s goal of reliable, high-capacity urban mobility.

With Efkon India’s competitive bid and experience in intelligent transport and rail systems, the project is expected to progress in line with DMRC’s stringent quality and performance standards.
