New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Four firms have submitted bids for the highly anticipated track work contract (DT-10R) for the Delhi Metro’s Golden Line (Line-10). This 23.622 km stretch will feature ballastless standard gauge tracks, connecting Aerocity to Tughlakabad with 16 stations. The bids were officially opened by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday, marking a crucial step in the ongoing development of Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro network.
The Golden Line, part of the broader 112.32 km Phase 4 project, is being developed through multiple civil construction packages. Notable contractors for these packages include Afcons, J Kumar, L&T, and YFC Projects, handling underground and elevated segments.
Track Work for the Golden Line
DMRC has plans to operate 13 train sets, each with six coaches, from Alstom Transport on the new Golden Line. The track work under contract DT-10R will cover the installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless track between Aerocity and Tughlakabad (from ch. -760m to ch. 23286m), including the supply of Maintenance of Supply Systems (MSS) and Buffer Stops.
This contract was initially tendered in July 2023 but was unexpectedly canceled in August, with no reasons provided. The project was re-bid under the DT-10R designation in September 2024, with a completion timeline of 1080 days (approximately 2.95 years). The project is being financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

These bids will undergo a thorough technical evaluation, which is expected to take a couple of months. Following this, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to determine the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
Current Status of Golden Line Track Work
DMRC's pace of awarding contracts for the Golden Line has been slower than expected, with several track-related contracts still in progress. The expected commercial operations on the Golden Line are now projected for mid-2027 due to the ongoing construction delays.

With the ongoing progress in track work and construction, the Golden Line is shaping up to be a significant addition to Delhi’s metro network, providing enhanced connectivity for commuters across the city.
