GHV India bags ₹123.96 crore Civil Contract for Mall Road Depot of Agra Metro Rail Project

Lucknow, India (Rail & Metro Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has awarded a ₹123.96 crore contract to GHV (India) Private Limited for the construction of a depot-cum-workshop at Mall Road for the upcoming Corridor-2 of the Agra Metro Rail Project.

The contract was awarded on August 21, 2026, with a completion period of 18 months. The facility will serve the Agra Cantt–Kalindi Vihar Metro Corridor, also known as the Blue Line, and will play a crucial role in the maintenance, inspection and operational readiness of the future metro line.

The Mall Road package includes a comprehensive range of civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical works required for the development of the depot and workshop facilities.

Five Companies Competed for the ₹123.96 Crore Contract

GHV (India) Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) with a quoted price of ₹123.96 crore and secured the contract from UPMRC.

Four other companies participated in the financial bidding process. Quality Buildcon Private Limited quoted ₹124.7 crore, followed by Vascon Engineers Limited at ₹130.9 crore, Lisha Engineers Private Limited at ₹132.4 crore and K S M Bashir Mohammad and Sons at ₹137.3 crore.

The award of the contract marks another important implementation milestone for the second corridor of the Agra Metro network.

Mall Road Depot to Support Agra Metro Blue Line Operations

The scope of work includes the construction of the depot-cum-workshop along with pre-engineered building (PEB), electrical and mechanical works.

The contract covers structural and architectural works, plumbing and drainage systems, boundary wall construction, external development and road works. Electrical and mechanical installations, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, firefighting arrangements and fire detection systems are also included in the scope.

Once completed, the Mall Road facility is expected to provide the infrastructure required for the inspection, maintenance and servicing of trains operating on Corridor-2.

Agra Metro Network Expands Beyond Priority Corridor

The Agra Metro Rail Project is being developed by UPMRC as a two-corridor urban rail network covering approximately 30 km with 27 stations.

Corridor-1, or the Yellow Line, will connect Sikandra with Taj East Gate over approximately 14 km through a combination of elevated and underground sections. A 6-km priority corridor of this line is already operational, providing metro connectivity near some of Agra's most important heritage and tourism destinations.

Corridor-2, or the Blue Line, will connect Agra Cantt Railway Station with Kalindi Vihar. The approximately 15.4-km elevated corridor is planned with 14 stations, extending metro connectivity to additional residential and commercial areas of the city.

The development of the Mall Road depot-cum-workshop will be essential for the future operation of this corridor.

With the ₹123.96 crore contract now awarded, construction of the operational infrastructure for the Agra Cantt–Kalindi Vihar line is expected to advance over the next 18 months. The facility will form a key part of UPMRC's preparations to expand Agra's metro network and provide residents and visitors with improved, sustainable and reliable public transport connectivity.
