Global construction tender launched for Pune Metro Phase 2 – Corridor 2B

Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has invited international competitive bids for the civil construction contract of Corridor 2B under Pune Metro Phase 2, marking a key step toward extending Metro connectivity to the city’s fast-growing eastern suburbs.

Corridor 2B will span 11.63 km from Ramwadi to Wagholi, covering 11 stations, and is planned as an extension of the existing Blue Line (Phase 1), which currently runs 14.665 km from Vanaz to Ramwadi with 16 stations. Once completed, the extension is expected to significantly improve public transport access for residential, commercial, and IT hubs along Nagar Road.

Scope of Work

The contract covers the design and construction of:

  • 4.8 km elevated Metro viaduct

  • 4.7 km first-level six-lane elevated road, including solid ramps

  • Structural works for four elevated stations

  • Stretch covered: Ramwadi to Tuljabhavani, as part of Corridor 2B (Ramwadi–Wagholi/Vitthalwadi) of Pune Metro Phase 2

This integrated infrastructure approach aims to optimize urban space while easing traffic congestion along one of Pune’s busiest growth corridors.

With bid submissions closing in early March 2026, the tender is expected to attract strong interest from leading domestic and international infrastructure players. Corridor 2B is poised to play a crucial role in reducing road congestion, improving travel reliability, and supporting Pune’s long-term transit-oriented development strategy.
