Global tender launched for Construction of Line 2 of Agra Metro Rail Project

Lucknow, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has invited bids for the construction of Agra Metro Phase 1’s Line-2. This line, spanning 15.09 km, will connect Agra Cantonment and Kalindi Vihar through 14 stations.

The mega package for this project includes building the entire line's structure, 14 elevated stations, a 530m viaduct to Line-2’s Kalindi Vihar Depot, and a 2.61 km viaduct connecting Sadar Bazar metro station to Line-1’s PAC Depot. Package AGCC-06, initially scrapped, is now part of AGCC-07.

AGCC-07 involves constructing the main line elevated viaduct, connecting ramps, and 14 elevated stations. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 1529.29 crore, is set to be completed in 24 months. Funding will be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Scope of Work

Design and Construction of Main Line Elevated Viaduct from Agra Cantt. Metro Station to Kalindi Vihar Metro Station [Chainage (-77m) to 15016m] including Viaduct Connection with Ramp (Chainage 0.00m to 2610m) from (nearby) Sadar Bazar Metro Station to existing Corridor-1 Depot at PAC ground & Corridor-2 Depot Entry/Exit lines Viaduct with Ramp (Chainage 0.00m to 530m) and 14 nos. of Elevated Stations i.e., Agra Cantt, Sadar Bazar, Pratap Pura, Collectorate, Agra College, Hariparvat Chauraha, Sanjay Place, M.G. Road, Sultanganj crossing, Kamla Nagar, Ram Bagh, Foundary Nagar, Agra Mandi & Kalindi Vihar metro stations including Civil, Associated Ancillary Structures, Architectural Finishes, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation, Drainage, External Development, Fire Fighting, Fire Detection, E&M works and PEB structures in Corridor-2 of Agra Metro Rail Project.

The southern section of Agra Metro’s Line-2, previously part of Package AGCC-06, is being designed by SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India). This 15.09 km stretch is now India's longest metro construction package.

Comparatively, Agra Metro’s Line-2 surpasses the lengths of Bhopal Metro’s Package BH-05 (12.915 km) and Mumbai Metro’s Package CA28 (12.81 km) for the Blue and Orange Lines.

AGCC-07 is the 5th civil package of Agra Metro’s Phase 1 to enter the bidding stage. The only pending tender is for Line-2’s Kalindi Vihar Depot.

In conclusion, the bidding for Agra Metro Line-2’s AGCC-07 is a significant step toward expanding Agra's metro network. With an estimated cost of Rs. 1529.29 crore and funding from the European Investment Bank, this project reflects India's commitment to improving urban transportation.
