Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for Mumbai’s expanding metro network, L&T Technology Services Ltd. (LTTS) has been officially awarded the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Systems contract for Mumbai Metro Line 9 (Dahisar – Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium – Morva) and Line 7A (Airport Colony – CSMIA) by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
L&T Technology Services received the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) on September 19, 2025, after emerging as the lowest bidder during the financial evaluation round of the tendering process.

Despite three firms participating in the tender, only L&T Technology Services' bid was accepted during the final financial evaluation, with the other two being disqualified.
The awarded contract involves:
Design and manufacturing of all AFC components
Supply and installation at all stations along Lines 9 & 7A
Integration and testing with the existing metro infrastructure
Commissioning in alignment with National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) standards
Comprehensive support through a 2-year defect liability period
This contract marks a major step in digitising Mumbai’s transit systems. With seamless ticketing, reduced cash dependency, and improved passenger convenience, the AFC systems will play a pivotal role in elevating the commuter experience on the upcoming corridors.
