Kolkata, India (Metro Rail Today): Shri Subhransu Sekhar Mishra, a seasoned officer of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), has assumed charge as the new General Manager of Metro Railway, Kolkata, succeeding Shri Milind K. Deouskar. His appointment marks a pivotal moment for India’s oldest metro system as it embarks on a phase of rapid expansion and modernization.
With a distinguished career spanning over 35 years, Shri Mishra brings deep technical expertise and administrative acumen in rolling stock, operations, and innovation—critical areas as the Metro gears up to serve a growing urban population.
An alumnus of IIT Chennai and a 1988-batch IRSME officer, Shri Mishra has served in several strategic roles across Indian Railways, most recently as General Manager of Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala. His tenure at RCF was marked by significant strides in manufacturing excellence and export-oriented production.

Strengthening maintenance and safety protocols
Ensuring timely execution of infrastructure and extension projects
His appointment is expected to provide strong leadership as the Metro expands into newer zones, including East-West and North-South corridors, and prepares for rising commuter demand.
