Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is implementing a 3.17 km extension of existing 16.495 km Line 7 (Red Line, Dahisar East – Andheri East) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project as Line 7A (Andheri East – CSIA Terminal 2).
The engineers of J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd has completed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of Terratec make Tunnel Boring Machine T-62 (niknamed Disha) on 30th January 2023 in Mumbai. This machine will be deployed for building approx. 2.915 km twin tunnels (both up and down lines) between a ramp on the Western Express Highway and CSIA Terminal 2 for Line 7A (Gundavali – CSIA).
A contract (package CA-48) worth Rs 1,998 crores awarded to J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in September 2019. The scope of work includes construction of viaduct, ramp and underground tunnels and 2 metro stations at Airport Colony and CSIA Terminal 2 for Line 7A (Extension of Line 7) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project.
The Line 7A will connect Andheri East to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) with two metro stations at Airport Colony and CSIA Terminal 2. Most of section of this line will be underground.
