New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation Limited (NCRTC) has awarded a civil contract worth Rs 265.71 crore to Lucknow-based partnership firm KSM Bashir Mohammad & Sons for the construction of RRTS train depot for 82.15 km Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.
The scope of work includes (under the contract package 5B) design and construction of Depot cum Workshop buildings for Modipuram Depot (including Architectural Finishing, PEB, E AND M and Road works) of Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS Corridor. The work order has been issued on 28th December 2022 with Rs 265, 71,50,149.51.
Tender notice for the above work was issued in October 2021 with 700 days completion period. Technical bids were opened in January 2022 and financial bids were opened in April 2022. A total of six firms were participated in this civil package. However, only four firms were qualified after technical evaluation.
According to plan, the Modipuram Depot will be developed on a 34.94 hectare land parcel on the northern-end of Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corrdor. This will be the second depot of RRTS after Duhai depot. The depot will be used for stabling 20 trains with 9 coaches for Delhi-Meeurt RRTS Corridor and 36 trains with 3 coaches for local MRTS (Meerut Metro) services on a 20 km metro route between Partapur and Modipuram in Meerut.
The KEC International-Vijay Nirman Company JV is constructing Duhai RRTS depot (under Package 5A) in Ghaziabad to provide long distance RRTS train operations along with a small stabling yard at Jangpura in Delhi.
