Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) opened financial bids for the OHE electrification system supply contract for Corridor 3 & 5 of the Chennai Metro Rail Project on 12th September 2022. As per the result of the financial bid, Linxon India Pvt. Ltd. emerged as the lowest bidder by beating the other four bidders.
Tender for design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, training and commissioning of RSS, ASS, SCADA, OHE and Switching Stations for Chennai Metro's Phase II Corridor 3 (Sholinganallur to SIPCOT 2) and Corridor 5 (From CMBT to Sholinganallur) was issued in October 2021 with 1150 day work completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in June 2022 where the names of five bidders were revealed.

Linxon India Pvt Ltd is a Faridabad-based firm that is a new company built on 100 years of technology expertise, and 60 years of substation and electrification project experience worldwide. It is a joint venture company set up by SNC-Lavalin and Hitachi Energy.
Linxon is presently supplying the complete power supply package including the 750VDC third rail for the extension (Petta – Thripunithura) of Kochi Metro Rail Project Phase 1.
