Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): As per the latest information shared by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the authority has completed over 98% work on the remaining stretches of Mumbai Metro's Line 2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar) and Line 7 (Dahisar East - Andheri East). The auhtority is planning to commence trial run of metro trains on these corridors by October this year.
The authority is aiming to commence commercial operations on these stretches by December 2022 after getting safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).
In April this year, MMRDA started metro services on only 20-kilometer stretches comprising 18 stations of Metro Line 2A & 7. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), which provides operations and maintenance (O&M) of both lines, has recorded an average daily ridership of 30,000 per day.
Once the entire two metro lines are made operational, they can carry nearly 3 lakh passengers. The entire corridor will have 30 stations. Moreover, the new Metro Lines 2A and 7 will also connect with the existing Metro One that runs between Ghatkopar and Versova at DN Nagar station.
Stations on Line 2A (Yellow Line): Dahisar East, Upper Dahisar Station, Kandarpada, Mandapeshwar, Eksar, Borivali West, Pahadi Eksar, Kandivali West, Dahanukarwadi, Valnai, Malad West, Lower Malad, Pahadi Goregaon, Goregaon West, Oshiwara, Lower Oshiwara and Andheri West.
Stations on Line 7 (Red Line): Dahisar East, Ovaripada, National Park, Devipada, Magathane, Poisar, Akurli, Kurar, Dindoshi, Aarey, Goregaon East, Jogeshwari East, Shankarwadi and Gundavali.
State-owned Rolling Stock manufacturer BEML Limited is providing the metro coaches for Mumbai Metro's Line 2A & 7.
