NCRTC unveils stations of proposed ₹16,189 Crore Noida - Delhi Airports RRTS Corridor

Noida, India (Metro Rail Today): In a visionary move towards transforming the travel landscape, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has unveiled plans for a high-speed rail link between Ghaziabad and Noida International Airport. The elevated 72.2-kilometer route, estimated to cost Rs 16,189 crore, is poised for completion by 2031. This ambitious project is set to redefine commuting standards, promising a rapid and efficient transit system.

The financial backing for this colossal endeavor is a collaborative effort, with 20% from the central government, 50% from the state government, and 30% from Noida. The estimated ridership projections are equally impressive, with expectations of 2.95 lakh passengers by 2031, escalating to 6.71 lakh by 2055.

One of the most remarkable features of this high-speed rail link is its ability to significantly reduce travel time. The journey between Noida International Airport and Indira Gandhi Airport is projected to take a mere 45 minutes, thanks to the impressive speed of 140 kilometers per hour.

In a strategic shift, the NCRTC is poised to take charge of the operation of the rapid rail and metro between Noida Airport and Ghaziabad. This marks a pivotal moment as the NCRTC ventures into metro operations for the first time, showcasing its commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure.

The Noida-Delhi Airports RRTS train will strategically halt at 25 planned stations initially, with potential expansion to 38 in the future. Key stations along the route include Siddharth Vihar, Pari Chowk, and YEIDA City, among others. The project's feasibility report and Detailed Project Report (DPR) have undergone meticulous adjustments to ensure optimal functionality.

Here is the list of stations planned:

  • Siddharth Vihar (Ghaziabad)
  • Ghaziabad South
  • Greater Noida West Sector 16
  • Greater Noida West Char Murti Chowk
  • Ecotech 12
  • Greater Noida West Sector 2
  • Greater Noida West Sector3
  • Greater Noida West Sector 10
  • Greater Noida West Sector 12
  • Knowledge Park V
  • Police Line Surajpur

  • Sector Pai-3
  • Ecotech-IE
  • Ecotech-6

An innovative approach to optimize infrastructure involves sharing the same track for both the metro and rapid rail. The DPR envisions a unified track with 25 stations, catering to both the three-coach metro trains and the eight-coach rapid rail trains.

A distinctive loop construction is on the horizon, facilitating non-stop travel between Noida Airport and Indira Gandhi Airport. The high-speed rapid rail will exclusively halt at specific stations, ensuring an efficient and uninterrupted commute.

The project's timeline indicates a completion target of 2031 for the elevated 72.2-kilometer route. As Noida anticipates this transformative transit system, the NCRTC's foray into metro operations and the strategic station stops underscore a commitment to creating a seamless, future-ready transportation network.

The NCRTC's vision for the high-speed rail link to Noida International Airport is a monumental step towards modernizing and enhancing connectivity in the National Capital Region. As the project gathers momentum, it not only promises to revolutionize daily commuting but also sets the stage for a future where efficient, high-speed transit is the norm.
