New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for the installation of ballastless standard gauge tracks on the Delhi Metro's 23.622 km Golden Line (Line-10), as confirmed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The Golden Line, a crucial new addition to Delhi’s metro network, will connect Aerocity to Tughlakabad, passing through 16 stations. It is part of the larger 112.32 km Phase 4 expansion of the Delhi Metro, which is currently under construction. The civil work for the Golden Line is being carried out through three underground packages—DC-07 (Afcons Infrastructure), DC-08 (J Kumar Infraprojects), and DC-09 (Larsen & Toubro)—along with an elevated package, DC-04 (YFC Projects).
DMRC plans to deploy 13 train-sets, each with six coaches, from Alstom Transport to operate on the Golden Line once completed.
The bidding process for the track installation began in July 2023 when DMRC initially invited bids for Package DC-10. However, the tender was unexpectedly canceled in August without an explanation. The re-invitation for bids took place in September 2024 under a new package, DT-10R, with a completion deadline set for 1080 days (approximately 2.95 years). The financial estimates for the project remained undisclosed.
Technical bids for the project were opened in December 2024, with four companies participating. However, Apurvakriti Infrastructure’s bid was found to be technically non-compliant, leading to its disqualification. The financial bids were opened at the end of February 2025, revealing Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd. as the lowest bidder, offering a bid value of ₹125.37 crore. Here is the financial position of all bidders:-
The project scope includes the installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless track, along with the supply of MSS (Modular Slab System) and Buffer Stop for the section between Aerocity and Tughlakabad (ch. -760m to ch. 23286m). This contract is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), though DMRC has not disclosed its own estimated project cost.
This development adds to the list of track-related contracts awarded for the Golden Line:
Despite these advancements, DMRC’s pace of awarding system contracts for the Golden Line has been slower than anticipated. As a result, the commercial operations for the Golden Line are now expected to commence no earlier than mid-2027, owing to the overall progress of construction work.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project as it continues to transform the city's public transport infrastructure.
