Patna Metro's Gandhi Maidan Metro Station will be lifeline for the capital city

Patna, India (Metro Rail Today): Patna's upcoming Gandhi Maidan underground metro station is poised to become the backbone of transportation in one of the city's most bustling neighborhoods, known as the 'Hub' of new Patna, with the primary market area extending from Ashok Rajpath. Spanning 202 meters in length, this under-construction underground metro station is strategically positioned near Gandhi Maidan and Kargil Chowk.

Gandhi Maidan stands as the pulsating heart of the city, housing the principal market zone, pivotal administrative offices of the Bihar Government, as well as key landmarks like Bapu Sabhagar, Gyan Bhawan, S.K Memorial, Gandhi Maidan Ground, Red Cross Society, and Magadh Mahila College. As a result, this meticulously designed underground metro station is poised to offer seamless and hassle-free commuting. With the closest metro stations at Akashvani and PMCH UG Metro stations, this facility is set to alleviate traffic congestion in one of Patna's most bustling sectors.

Key Features of the Gandhi Maidan Underground Metro Station:

A Two-Level Underground Metro Station

  • It comprises two levels: the Concourse on the first level and the platform on the second level.
  • Concourse level will host ticketing and other commuter-centric amenities.

Three Entry/Exit Gates

  • Entry/Exit-1 will be located in front of Red Cross Society, Patna City Branch, near Magadh Mahila College.
  • Entry/Exit-2 will be positioned near the approach road to Patna Collectorate, close to the existing Bankipur Bus stand.
  • Entry/Exit-3 will be situated in front of Gandhi Maidan, near Kali Mandir.
  • Two lifts are also provided at Entry/Exit-2 and 3, catering to the needs of differently abled individuals and senior citizens.

Passenger Facilities: The station features seven escalators and five staircases for public use, with one escalator and one staircase designated at each Entry/Exit for passenger entry, and four escalators and two staircases facilitating movement from the concourse to the platform level.

Emergency Preparedness: In case of emergencies, the station incorporates two fire escapes (staircases) for public use. Passengers can use these to move from the platform to the concourse, from where any of the three Entry/Exits can be accessed for exiting the station premises. Additionally, a separate firemen staircase is available for firefighters to enter the station premises during emergency situations.

The Patna Metro adopts a multi-modal integration approach, alongside the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), to enhance passenger convenience and offer hassle-free travel options. With the launch of the Metro system, the city's residents are expected to gravitate towards public transportation, as the Metro not only offers affordability and convenience but also contributes to pollution reduction by decreasing the number of vehicles on the road. As the Gandhi Maidan Underground Metro Station nears completion, it emerges as a beacon of enhanced urban mobility and sustainable transportation for the evolving city of Patna.
