Rahee Infratech Bags Track Work Contract for Mumbai Metro Line 9

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for Mumbai's expanding metro network, Rahee Infratech has been awarded the contract for track work on Line-9 of the Mumbai Metro. This contract, valued at ₹77.85 crore (exclusive of GST), entails the supply and installation of ballastless tracks along the 11.38-kilometer stretch connecting Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar, encompassing eight elevated stations along the route.

Mumbai Metro Line 9 forms an integral part of Mumbai's Red Line, spanning a total length of 31.05 kilometers and linking key destinations such as Mira Bhayandar, Dahisar East, Andheri East, and CSMIA Terminal 2 through 23 strategically located stations. Rahee Infratech's scope of work under Package CA-167 includes the installation of standard gauge tracks along the northern leg of Line-9, contributing to the seamless operation of this vital metro corridor.

The construction of the elevated section for Line 9 has been underway since March 2020, spearheaded by J Kumar Infraprojects through civil Package CA-48. Notably, the launch of the first U-girder in April 2021 marked a significant milestone in the construction process, showcasing the progress achieved in implementing this ambitious infrastructure project.

The procurement process for the track-work contract commenced in April 2023, with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) inviting bids and setting a 1.5-year installation deadline. Following the opening of technical bids in May 2023, five prominent bidders, including Rahee Infratech, participated in the evaluation process. Rahee emerged as the lowest bidder during the financial bid opening in September 2023, securing the contract for Package CA-167.

MMRDA's comprehensive scope for the project encompasses various aspects, including design, construction, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless trackwork. This endeavor aims to ensure the seamless operation and safety of Mumbai Metro Line 9, enhancing commuter experience and facilitating efficient transportation across Mumbai's urban landscape.

While progress continues on Mumbai Metro Line 9, MMRDA remains engaged in evaluating bids for other critical contracts, such as the 25 kV AC overhead electrification contract CA-176. Additionally, the recent rescheduling of bid submission deadlines for key contracts underscores the dynamic nature of infrastructure development, influenced by factors such as electoral processes.

As Mumbai Metro Rail network expands and evolves, initiatives like Mumbai Metro Line 9 play a pivotal role in addressing the city's burgeoning transportation needs, fostering connectivity, and enhancing urban mobility for millions of residents and commuters.
