Rail Coach Factory wins Best Production Unit Award at 69th Ati Vishisht Rail Sewa Award 2024

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala has been honored with the prestigious Best Production Unit Award for its exceptional performance in 2023-24 at the 69th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Awards ceremony. The award was presented by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT, to SS Mishra, General Manager of RCF, during a grand ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Ravi Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer at RCF, was also present to witness the momentous occasion.

This is the third time RCF Kapurthala has earned this distinction, having previously won the award in 2012-13 and 2020-21. RCF shared the honor with Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Chittaranjan, another major production unit of Indian Railways. The ceremony also recognized 101 railway officials with individual accolades, and shields were presented to 22 railway zones and production units for their outstanding contributions across various categories.

In his address, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated all awardees, highlighting the significant advancements Indian Railways has achieved in the last decade. He emphasized the rapid pace of project completions, such as the Kashmir to Kanyakumari rail link, and the ongoing electrification drive aiming for 100% electrification by 2025. Notable projects like Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and freight corridors are progressing at an accelerated rate, alongside widespread implementation of the Kavach safety system.

Vaishnaw also underscored the Railways’ focus on safety, modernization, and improving the passenger experience. He announced initiatives to further enhance maintenance practices, safety protocols, and training for railway personnel, with a particular focus on the integration of modern technology and innovation. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to continue improving Indian Railways and providing world-class service to all citizens, especially the underprivileged.

Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, Satish Kumar, also addressed the gathering, reaffirming Indian Railways' commitment to providing affordable, high-quality services to passengers. He highlighted the importance of safety, speed, and comfort in the organization’s mission and praised the teamwork that has driven the ongoing transformation of stations through initiatives like the Amrit Bharat Station project.

The Ati Vishisht Rail Puraskar, awarded annually, recognizes the dedication and hard work of railway personnel and production units. The individual awards celebrate exceptional contributions to the efficiency, safety, and passenger-friendliness of Indian Railways, while the shields honor the best-performing zones and units for their outstanding achievements.
