SEW Infra-led JV wins ₹906 crore Mogharpada Depot contract of Mumbai Metro Line 4

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) opened the financial bids of Mogharpada Depot contract package CA-160 of Mumbai Metro Line 4 conencting Wadala – Kasaravadavali – Gaimukh on 7th April 2023 in Mumbai. 

As per financial bid result, the joint venture (JV) of SEW Infrastructure Ltd and Vishwa Samudra Engineering Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder. Only three bidders were participated in this contract package. The financial position of each bidder is as under:

  • SEW Infra - Vishwa Samudra Engg JV: Rs 905.77 crore (L1)
  • NCC Ltd: Rs 944.25 crore (L2)
  • Rithwik Projects Pvt Ltd: Disqualified

The scope of work under contract package CA-160 includes design and construction of depot infrastructures comprising stabling yard, operational control centre and administrative building, maintenance and workshop buildings. auxiliary substation, staff quarters, architectural finishing, plumbing, earthworks for land development, compound wall, road approach, bridge connecting to depot, underground utility ducts, drainage system, design and build of ETP and STP, etc. including architectural finishing works and design and build of pre-engineered building structures of car depot at Mogharpada for Metro Line-4 and 4A of Mumbai Metro Rail Project.

Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in August 2022 with an estimated cost of Rs 711.34 crore and 1,095 days work completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in mid-January 2023.

Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation. However, the L1 bidder has quoted much higher amount than estimated cost of MMRDA.

The Mogharpada Metro depot will serve trains for 32.32 km long Mumbai Metro's Line 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali) which will connect Wadala to Kasarvadavali with 32 stations. This depot will be built on approx. 35 hectare land parcel.
