Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has recently finalized the Contract Package AFC-03A, which involves the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of the Back Office for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System for Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project.
The contract, aimed at establishing the Back Office of the AFC System for Chennai Metro across all corridors, has been awarded to M/s. Shellinfo Global Consortium for a total amount of ₹42.58 Crores. The Contract Agreement was officially signed by Rajesh Chaturvedi, Director (Systems and Operations) representing CMRL, and Murali Krishna Chappalli, Managing Director of M/s. Shellinfo Global Consortium. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of key officials including K A Manoharan, Advisor (S&T/IT&AFC), S Ashok Shankar, Manager (Tele&AFC), AFC Experts, Deputy Team Leaders from both GC1 & GC2, along with representatives from CMRL and M/s. Shellinfo Global Consortium.
Earlier in December 2023, Shellinfo Global Digital Technologies secured a contract worth ₹93.17 crores for supplying station-level equipment for the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system of the 26.09 km Chennai Metro Line 4.
Shellinfo Global Digital Technologies stands out as a transit technology-driven company, specializing in providing AFC solutions for public transport systems such as metros, buses, and parking facilities. Noteworthy achievements by the company include being the first in India to launch a full QR solution for over 50 stations, introducing a B2C API for multi-platform integration (e.g., Paytm, PhonePe), and implementing an Onsite Enterprise Cloud Solution for AFC using Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
Furthermore, Shellinfo Global Digital Technologies has innovatively designed and integrated EMV Reader, QR Reader, and Closed-loop Reader within the same top cover of the Automatic Gate (AG) with minimal modifications, showcasing their commitment to technological advancement and efficiency in transit systems.
With these contracts and technological advancements, CMRL is poised to further enhance the commuter experience and streamline fare collection processes, reaffirming its commitment to providing world-class metro services in Chennai.
