Siemens India wins ₹673 crore electrification contract for Surat Metro Rail project

Surat, India (Metro Rail Today): The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) has opened the financial (price) bids of 750V DC Third Rail electrification system contract package (EP-1/2022) on 16th January 2023.

As per the finacial bid result shared, Siemens emerged as the lowest bidder by beating six other firms/consortia. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

• Siemens Ltd: Rs 672.96 crore (L1)
• KEC International Ltd: Rs 699.08 crore (L2)
• Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T): Rs 748.33 crore (L3)
• Techno Electric & Engineering – ABL Electrical JV: Rs 905.22 crore (L4)

However, the financial bids of Sterling & Wilson Ltd, Linxon India and Kalpataru Power Transmission – Gulermak JV have not been opened as they did not qualify the contract terms & conditions.

Tender notice for Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of Power Supply receiving & Distribution System, 750 V DC Third Rail Traction electrification and SCADA System for Surat Metro Rail Project (Phase 1) was issued in February 2022. Technical bids were opened in May 2022.

The 21.61 km long Corridor 1 will connect Sarthana to Dream City with 14 elevated stations and 6 underground stations with depot at Dream City while 18.74 km long corridor 2 will connect Bhesan to Saroli with 18 elevated stations with depot at Bhesan.
