Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major stride towards modernizing Mumbai's transportation infrastructure, Siemens Limited, in collaboration with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), has successfully secured a significant order from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the electrification of Mumbai Metro Line 2B. The prestigious project is set to revolutionize the city's mass transit system, providing state-of-the-art electrification solutions and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for 20 stations and one depot.
As part of the consortium, Siemens Limited's portion of the project amounts to Rs. 228 crore, while RVNL's share stands at Rs. 149 crore. The scope of Siemens Limited's responsibilities encompasses the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of cutting-edge rail electrification technologies and SCADA systems. These advanced solutions will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless and efficient operations across the metro line.
Furthermore, RVNL, as a crucial partner in the consortium, will be entrusted with the commissioning of Receiving Substations (RSS) solutions, further augmenting the electrification efforts of Mumbai Metro Line 2B.
Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership with MMRDA, Gunjan Vakharia, Head of Mobility Business at Siemens Limited, emphasized the significance of the project in elevating Mumbai's transportation infrastructure.
