Six firms bid for Design Consultancy Contract of Nagpur Metro Phase 2

Nagpur, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for Nagpur's metro expansion, six distinguished design and engineering firms have thrown their hats into the ring, vying for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract DDC-03. This crucial contract, encompassing the design of eight elevated stations, is part of Nagpur Metro’s expansive 43.8 km Phase 2 project. The technical bids for this contract were opened by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (Maha-Metro) in December 2023, unveiling a competitive landscape among the bidders.

The scope of Package DDC-03 is extensive, covering the detailed design consultancy services for eight elevated stations situated between Jamtha and Butibori on the Orange Line’s 18.70 km southern extension (Reach 1A and Reach 1B). The designated stations include Ashokvan, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Meghdoot MIDC, Butibori Police Station, MHADA Colony, MIDC KEC, and MIDC ESR. The selected consultant will shoulder the responsibility of producing and proposing alternate designs for all civil, architectural, building services, electrical, and mechanical works at these stations.

Maha-Metro initiated the bidding process for this consultancy service in November 2023, estimating the contract value at Rs. 5.20 crore. The expected duration of the consultancy is set at three years.

The six firms in contention for the DDC-03 contract are:

  • Ayesa India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Composites Combine Technocrats Pvt. Ltd.
  • Enia Design Pvt. Ltd.
  • Structcon Designs Pvt. Ltd.
  • STUP Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • TYPSA India Pvt. Ltd.

The detailed design consultancy services involve a comprehensive approach, focusing on the eight elevated stations listed earlier. The scope encompasses Ashokvan, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Meghdoot MIDC, Butibori Police Station, MHADA Colony, MIDC KEC, and MIDC ESR, excluding the viaduct in station portions on Reach 1A and Reach 1B of Nagpur Metro’s Phase 2.

The technical evaluation of the bids is currently underway. Once completed, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be unveiled, revealing the lowest bidder and the potential consultant for this crucial phase of the metro expansion.

Nagpur Metro's Phase 2 comprises at least four DDC packages, each contributing to the overall development of the metro network.

As the technical evaluation progresses, anticipation builds around the unveiling of the financial bids and the subsequent reveal of the lowest bidder. Nagpur Metro's Phase 2 is a testament to the city's commitment to enhancing its public transportation infrastructure, and the active participation of renowned firms underscores the significance of this development. The journey towards a more extensive and efficient metro network in Nagpur continues, with each phase contributing to the city's growth and connectivity.
