South Asia's First Metro Museum marks 15th Anniversary with Satrangi Sapne Film Festival

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In honor of the 15th anniversary of the Metro Museum, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) orchestrated 'Satrangi Sapne,' a Film Festival designed for children. Hosted at the Metro Bhawan auditorium, this unique event, aimed at spreading the joy of cinema among underprivileged children, was made possible through a collaborative effort with Sarthak Prayas NGO and Vector Foundation NGO. The young attendees, affiliated with these NGOs, had the pleasure of participating in this special film festival.

Stars Illuminate the Event

The event was graced by the presence of eminent actors, adding an extra layer of joy and inspiration. Notable figures like Naresh Gosain, Sidharth Bharadwaj, and Sachin Kathuria shared words of encouragement and wisdom with the attending children, fostering a sense of positivity and creativity.

Dr. Shalini Singh, the First Lady of DMRC, attended the occasion as the chief guest alongside Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC. Both luminaries addressed the young audience, underscoring the significance of education and imagination in shaping their futures.

Genesis of Metro Museum

The Metro Museum's inception traces back to a visit by Sh. Anuj Dayal, Delhi Metro's Executive Director, Corporate Communications, to the London Transport Museum in 2008. Inspired, a dedicated team was assembled to research and gather information for the museum. The search for a suitable space culminated in the selection of Patel Chowk as the venue.

Opened on December 31, 2008, with initial information panels, the Metro Museum evolved over the years. It now houses various exhibits, including working models of the Tunnel Boring Machine, Metro train, and Operations Control Centre (OCC).
