Systra emerges as Sole Bidder for DDC Contract of Gurugram Metro's HUDA – Cyber City Line

Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Limited has emerged as the sole bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract GGNCCDD-15(R2) for Gurugram Metro's pivotal 28.5 km line connecting HUDA Millennium City Centre and Cyber City.

The elevated corridor, spearheaded by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTC), will intricately weave through Gurugram and Old Gurugram, encompassing a total of 27 stations. This transformative project, endorsed for construction by the Indian Government's Union Cabinet in June 2023, comes with an estimated budget of Rs. 5452 crore.

This marks the third round of tendering for a contract that has faced significant delays. Initially, in August 2022, HMRTC received a single bid from Egis Rail. Subsequent rounds in May 2023 witnessed bids from Egis, STUP Consultants, and Spectrum Consultants – Tandon Consultants – Fountainhead JV. However, none materialized. HMRTC re-issued bids in February 2024, estimating the contract at Rs. 19.12 crore with a 48-month duration.

The scope entails Detail Design Consultant (DDC) responsibilities covering Civil Architectural and E&M works along the elevated section spanning 28.5 km with 27 stations. The primary corridor spans from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City Gurugram, covering 26.65 km, with an additional spur from Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway.

Should HMRTC find the participation satisfactory, SYSTRA's bid will undergo technical evaluation, a process likely to extend over several months. If deemed qualified, their financial bid will be assessed to ensure it aligns with the allocated budget.

Beyond facilitating interchange with Delhi Metro's Yellow Line and Gurgaon's Rapid Metro, this line is anticipated to connect with the 72 km Delhi – Dharuhera (RRTS) line at Cyber City and Hero Honda Chowk.

Despite ambitions to commence construction in 2024, the prolonged delay in assigning a DDC suggests a slim likelihood of meeting this timeline. The intricate process of preparing detailed designs and conducting civil construction bidding necessitates patience and precision.

As the wheels of progress turn, Gurugram eagerly anticipates the realization of its transformative metro project, promising enhanced connectivity and urban mobility for its residents and visitors alike.
