Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): Tata Project has completed erection of 300 metro piers for the Pune Metro Line 3 connecting Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. This Line is being implemented under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) while Line 1 & 2 are being implmented by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro).
In October 2018, PMRDA had roped a consortium consisting of Tata Group's TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH for implementation of this project on PPP basis.
“Pier construction is underway along this route, with a total of 300 piers completed. The noteworthy aspect is that, after completing the erection of the 200th pier in December 2022, developers were able to give the project a significant boost by erecting an additional 100 piers in just 60 days,” said a press release issued by PMRDA.
The Tata Group has formed Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (Puneri Metro) as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company to oversee the Pune Metro Line 3 project. The circular shape of the Pune Metro Line 3 piers with a diameter of 2000 mm is unique in nature. These piers are being built in accordance with the metro rail system’s design parameters.
The 23.3 kilometres Line 3 of Pune Metro Rail Project will be completely elevated. This line will connect Civil Court to Megapolis in Hinawadi with 23 stations at Megapolis Circle, Embassy Quadron Business Park, Dohler, Infosys Phase II, Wipro Phase II, Pall India, Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi, Wakad Chowk, Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ram Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, Baner, Krushi Anusadhan, Sakal Nagar, University, R.B.I., Agriculture College, Shivaji Nagar and Civil Court.
This line will also be integrated with Line 1 & 2. Alstom will manufacture and supply the trains for Pune Metro Line 3 which will be feeded from proposed metro carshed at Maan Village. The depot will be spread across 20 hectares.
