Kolkata, India (Metro Rail Today): The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has opened the technical bids for the first underground civil contract package (Mominpur – Esplanade) of Line 3 of Kolkata Metro Rail Project on 14th February 2023.
As per the information shared by RVNL, a total of three major infra firms have submitted their bids to construct the 5.05 km underground tunnel of Line 3. The name of the firms are as under:-
The scope of work includes design and construction of the ramp and underground metro railway works from Mominpur (excl.) to Esplanade, 5.05 km (from chainage 9063.00m to 14113.00m) including four underground stations (viz. Khidderpore, Victoria, Park Street and Esplanade), tunnels by tunnel boring machine and cut & cover method, architectural finishing works, track works, etc. in connection with Joka-Esplanade metro corridor.
Tender notice (No. RVNL/Kol2/MTC-JOKA/UG1) for the above work was issued in July 2022 with an estimate of Rs 2571.28 crore and an 30 months work completion deadline.
Now all bids have been sent for technical evaluation.

The Line 3 (Purple Line) of Kolkata Metro spans 15.246 kilometres from Joka in the south, to Esplanade in the north with an extension of 3.39 kilometres to Diamond Park from Joka. It will connect existing Line 1 at Park Street in central Kolkata and run in parallel up to Esplanade in central Kolkata where it will also connect Kolkata Metro Line 2 (East-West Metro Line). This Line is being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
